People seek counselling for a huge number of different reasons. Simply put, if you're living with feelings that you find upsetting, unsettling or hard to cope with, then counselling can help. Counsellors often use the umbrella terms of anxiety and depression, but in reality you could be experiencing fear, stress, helplessness, sadness, despair, guilt, shame, regret, anger, isolation or hopelessness. This might be as a result of profound change or loss, or possibly have roots of which you’re less aware. Your feelings may also be leading to compulsive or destructive behaviours, and the erosion of your self-esteem and confidence.

All of this can be explored in counselling. And in doing so, you can hopefully understand why you feel the way you do, and make the adjustments you need to find a sense of resolution and restore your self-worth.
